El debate cultural en el ensayo afroecuatoriano del siglo XX: los casos de Adalberto Ortiz y Nelson Estupiñán Bass

Abstract

[ES] Anteriormente se han hecho esfuerzos importantes en los estudios de las letras afroecuatorianas para entender su poética y ficción, pero el estudio de su prosa no ficcional ha sido escaso. Este trabajo de fin de máster tiene como necesidad emergente el efectuar un análisis de los ensayos escritos por dos de los principales autores de la literatura afroecuatoriana como lo son Adalberto Ortiz y Nelson Estupiñán Bass, y así otorgar un prolegómeno hacia una historia intelectual afroecuatoriana. En esta investigación se delimita el campo de estudio al debate cultural en el siglo XX, y se deja claro que fue el mismo afroecuatoriano que reflexionó sobre su cultura, así como su vínculo con la política y la estética. Gracias al fenómeno estudiado, también se llega a trazar las redes de apoyo alrededor de estos escritos y los contextos para los cuales se escribía y pensaba, llegando a traspasar fronteras nacionales. [EN] Previous important efforts have been made in Afro-Ecuadorian literary studies in order to understand its poetic and its fiction, nonetheless the study of its non-fictional prose has been scarce. In this master’s thesis is thought to be urgent to make an analysis of the essays written by two of the most important authors of Afro-Ecuadorian literature such as Adalberto Ortiz and Nelson Estupiñán Bass, and thus to give a prolegomenon towards an history on Afro-Ecuadorian intellectuality. This investigation is delimited to the study of the cultural debate in the 20th century, and it establishes that Afro-Ecuadorian people themselves studied their own culture, and its relations with politics and aesthetics as well. Thanks to the studied phenomenon it is also possible to track the social relations surrounding these texts and the contexts for which they wrote and thought -achieving to trespass national borders.
