Mujeres en la aviación: conquistas y retos

Abstract

[ES]La aviación es un mundo desconocido, cerrado y corporativista. Embarcarse en esta profesión conlleva consigo esfuerzos y sacrificios tanto económicos como sociales. En cuanto a los primeros, debidos al alto coste de las horas de vuelo y debido a las pocas ATO (por sus siglas en inglés Approved Training Organizations, o lo que es lo mismo, Organizaciones de Formación Aprobadas) en nuestro país, por lo cual habitualmente es muy complicado vivir cerca de casa. Los sociales tienen relación con las exigencias que suponen llevar a cabo un vuelo seguro y eficiente. Estas dos características afectan por igual tanto a hombres como a mujeres por lo que en este estudio se realiza un análisis sobre las siguientes preguntas: ¿Por qué la diferencia de hombres y mujeres en aviación es tan abismal? ¿Por qué sólo hay cerca de un 3,5% mujeres afiliadas al SEPLA (Sindicato Español de Pilotos de Líneas Aéreas)? Durante este trabajo encontrarán las respuestas a estas preguntas a lo largo de los diversos apartados del estudio.

[EN]Aviation is an unknown, closed and corporatist world. Embarking in this profession entails efforts and sacrifices, both economic and social. Regarding the first, due to the high cost of flight hours and due to the few ATO (Approved Training Organizations) in our country, due to which it is usually very difficult to live close to home. The social ones are related to the demands of safe and efficient flying. These two characteristics affect both men and women equally, so this study analyzes the following questions: Why is the difference between men and women in aviation so abysmal? Why are there only about 3.5% of women members of SEPLA (Spanish Airline Pilots Union)?
