El trigo y una identidad: evolución del regionalismo castellano anterior a la Guerra Civil

Abstract

[ES] Estudio de la evolución del regionalismo castellano a través de una revisión bibliográfica y fuentes primarias, teniendo en cuenta las distintas visiones de Castilla de la época y de las diversas corrientes regionalistas que surgen. En primer lugar se ofrece una visión de su nacimiento en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX como una defensa por la burguesía harinera de los “auténticos intereses de Castilla” desde una proyección proteccionista, con el arancel como reivindicación, y observando distintas manifestaciones del fenómeno pero que no llegan a configurar un movimiento en sí. En el siglo XX, gracias a argumentos de los regeneracionistas y de la generación del 98 se perfila un regionalismo “sano” defendido por diversos políticos de la Restauración y que se va posicionando a favor de una descentralización administrativa pero no política, siendo en parte una respuesta al catalanismo que se percibe como regionalismo “morboso”. En esta línea surgen momentos clave como el “mensaje de Castilla” o las “bases de Segovia” así como otras iniciativas encaminadas a la formación de una mancomunidad, un partido castellanista... pero que no llegan a buen puerto. En la dictadura de Primo de Rivera se produce un estancamiento de un regionalismo que no vuelve a aparecer en escena hasta la Segunda República, dándose un gran debate y agitación regionalista en las ciudades castellanas principalmente a través de la prensa, a causa de la aprobación del estatuto catalán, circunstancias que harán que se busque uno propio para Castilla. Sin embargo, con la guerra civil el proceso se paraliza sin haber logrado resultados. Asimismo, a lo largo de toda esta época se produce un regionalismo cultural y una recuperación de Castilla que se manifiesta a través de juegos florales, folklore, deporte, etc. [EN] Study of the evolution of Castilian regionalism through a bibliographic review and primary sources, taking into account the different visions of Castile at the time and the various regionalist currents that emerge. Firstly, a vision of its birth in the second half of the 19th century is offered as a defense by the flour bourgeoisie of the “authentic interests of Castile” from a protectionist projection, with the tariff as a demand, and observing different manifestations of the phenomenon but that do not constitute a movement in itself. In the 20th century, thanks to the arguments of the regenerationists and the generation of '98, a "healthy" regionalism emerged, defended by various politicians of the Restoration and which was positioned in favor of an administrative but not political decentralization, being in part a response to Catalanism that is perceived as “morbid” regionalism. In this line, key moments arise such as the “message of Castile” or the “bases of Segovia” as well as other initiatives aimed at the formation of a commonwealth, a Castilian party... but that do not come to fruition. During the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, there was a stagnation of regionalism that did not reappear on the scene until the Second Republic, with great regionalist debate and agitation taking place in the Castilian cities mainly through the press, due to the approval of the Catalan statute, circumstances that will lead to the search for one of its own for Castilla. However, with the civil war the process was paralyzed without achieving results. Likewise, throughout this entire period there was a cultural regionalism and a recovery of Castile that was manifested through floral games, folklore, sports, etc.
