Metafore temporali e concettualizzazione del tempo: analisi contrastiva tra spagnolo e italiano nella linguistica cognitiva

Abstract

El presente Trabajo de Fin de Grado tiene la finalidad de analizar la representación mental del tiempo en italiano y español desde la perspectiva de la lingüística cognitiva, centrándose de forma específica en el uso de metáforas conceptuales. Las metáforas, entendidas ya no solo como simples recursos estilísticos sino como estructuras fundamentales del pensamiento humano, desempeñan un papel determinante en la forma en la que los seres humanos organizamos y concebimos nuestra experiencia en el mundo. En el caso específico del tiempo, encontramos una considerable serie de investigaciones que han probado que los hablantes tendemos a conceptualizarlo en términos de cantidad, espacio o movimiento, entre otros marcos metafóricos recurrentes. Este estudio, que parte de la hipótesis de que, aunque el italiano y el español comparten una base cultural e histórica común que deriva de la lengua latina, existen diferencias significativas en el modo en que cada lengua estructura metafóricamente la noción de tiempo, influidas por factores lingüísticos, culturales y pragmáticos propios. Así bien, con el fin de comprobar esta hipótesis, se ha llevado a cabo un análisis contrastivo que parte de un corpus textual seleccionado en ambas lenguas y compuesto por textos pertenecientes a distintos géneros discursivos (prensa, textos orales escritos, literatura, entre otros). Dicho enfoque nos permitirá identificar las metáforas temporales más frecuentes, así como las posibles divergencias en su uso, estructura y distribución. Estas diferencias no solo ofrecen nuevas perspectivas sobre la relación entre lenguaje, cultura y pensamiento, sino que también enriquecen el conocimiento sobre el funcionamiento metafórico de cada lengua. En resumen, este trabajo pretende contribuir al estudio del lenguaje como reflejo y modelador de la cognición humana y ofrecer posibles líneas de investigación sobre la conceptualización del tiempo en lenguas románicas.

This Bachelor's Thesis aims to analyze the mental representation of time in Italian and Spanish from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, focusing specifically on the use of conceptual metaphors. Metaphors, understood not only as simple stylistic devices but as fundamental structures of human thought, play a decisive role in the way humans organize and conceive our experience of the world. In the specific case of time, there is a considerable body of research demonstrating that speakers tend to conceptualize it in terms of quantity, space, or movement, among other recurring metaphorical frameworks. This study is based on the hypothesis that, although Italian and Spanish share a common cultural and historical foundation derived from the Latin language, there are significant differences in the way each language metaphorically structures the notion of time, influenced by their own linguistic, cultural, and pragmatic factors. To verify this hypothesis, a contrastive analysis has been conducted using a textual corpus selected in both languages, composed of texts from various discourse genres (press, spoken and written texts, literature, among others). This approach will allow us to identify the most frequent temporal metaphors, as well as possible divergences in their use, structure, and distribution. These differences not only offer new perspectives on the relationship between language, culture, and thought but also enrich the understanding of the metaphorical functioning of each language. In summary, this work aims to contribute to the study of language as a reflection and shaper of human cognition and to offer possible lines of research on the conceptualization of time in Romance languages.
