Translation Technologies I and II

Abstract

The workshop Translation Technologies I and II, delivered by Manuel de la Cruz Recio and Belén Santana López, provided a comprehensive overview of current translation and interpreting technologies from both a professional and academic perspective. It covered core areas such as Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT), Translation Management Systems (TMS), Machine Translation (MT) and post-editing, as well as terminology management, localization, and multilingual project workflows.

The workshop combined conceptual grounding with hands-on examples and real professional cases, enabling participants to critically assess the possibilities, limitations, and risks of translation technologies. Particular emphasis was placed on the central role of the human translator and interpreter in technology-rich environments, promoting informed, strategic, and responsible use of digital tools in line with current market demands and university-level training in Translation and Interpreting.
