El crimen del señor S. Karma de Abe Kōbō. La metamorfosis como síntesis de la vanguardia artística y política

Abstract

[ES] Abe Kōbō fue uno de los escritores más destacados de la literatura japonesa de posguerra y al igual que muchos jóvenes de la época se interesó por las vanguardias artísticas y por el comunismo. Frecuentó y lideró grupos de artistas en los que se debatía sobre los ideales vanguardistas y, como miembro del Partido Comunista, organizó actividades culturales en zonas obreras. Estos años fueron también los de su lanzamiento como escritor, tras obtener el prestigioso Premio Akutagawa. Un tema recurrente en sus relatos de entonces era el de la metamorfosis y por ello fue apodado por muchos el Kafka japonés, si bien él reconocía otras influencias. En este artículo analizamos uno de estos relatos de metamorfosis para indagar en la significación de este motivo temático, que consideramos la síntesis de las dos vanguardias, la artística y la política, que Abe entendía como inseparables. [EN] Abe Kōbō was one the most renowned writers of Japanese postwar literature and, like many of his contemporaries, was interested in avant-garde arts and communism. Abe used to frequent and, even led, groups of artists that discussed avant-garde ideals and, as a member of the Communist Party, he organized cultural activities in working class areas. It was also in those years when his career as a writer began after winning the prestigious Akutagawa prize. Metamorphosis was a recurring topic in his short stories of that time and that is the reason why he was called the Japanese Kafka, although he recognized different influences. In this article we analyze one of his metamorphosis short stories to think about the meaning of this topic, that we consider to be the synthesis of both avant-gardes, the artistic and the political, that Abe understood as a whole.
