El conocimiento de los profesores de lenguas extranjeras

Abstract

[ES] La formación de los profesores de lenguas extranjeras se hace en gran medida sin contar con investigaciones sobre el proceso de aprender a enseñar. En este artículo presentaré brevemente algunas investigaciones que se han llevado a cabo sobre este proceso desde la perspectiva del pensamiento del profesor en otras áreas curriculares e intentaré establecer conexiones entre dichas investigaciones y la formación de los docentes de lenguas extranjeras, de forma que podamos establecer, aunque sea tentativamente, algunas de las características del proceso de aprender a enseñar. Finalmente propongo una serie de sugerencias para que los cursos de formación puedan diseñarse teniendo en cuenta el conocimiento previo de los estudiantes y los cambios que este conocimiento sufre a lo largo de su formación.

[EN] The education of foreign language teachers is on the whole not based on research into the process of how students become teachers or how they learn the profession. In this article I will try to map out briefly some of the research done in other curricular areas from The Teachers' Thinking paradigm trying to bridge the gap between EFL and the rest of the curricular areas. I will then try to map out some of the features of the process of becoming a FL teacher. I will also suggest ways in which research could be carried out into the process of becoming a FL teacher so that teacher education courses could be designed to take into account the trainee's pre-training knowledge and the learning process they go through in TE institutions and beyond.
