A vueltas con la inmigración. Reflexiones en torno a la diversidad cultural

Abstract

[ES] En este artículo se analiza el fenómeno inmigratorio experimentado en España en los últimos años, y la diversidad que se le atribuye a esta población inmigrante extranjera, de la cual pueden distinguirse hasta cuatro grupos bien diferenciados en relación a la situación económica del colectivo de inmigrantes. El conocimiento acerca de las características de los extranjeros, el lugar de procedencia y el volumen de inmigrantes regulares e irregulares, puede contribuir a romper falsos estereotipos y prejuicios con los que a menudo se identifica a este colectivo. El reconocimiento del pluralismo cultural no sólo como legítimo, sino también como necesario para el enriquecimiento de los pueblos, constituye la tesis central de este trabajo que sugiere algunas políticas de cooperación para una futura educación intercultural.

[EN] This article analyses the phenomenon of immigration that has been taking place in Spain during recent years and the diversity attributed to this foreign immigrant population. As regards economic situation, four well-differentiated groups can be defined in this collective. Knowledge of the characteristics of the immigrants, their place of origin and the number of regular and irregular inmigrants can help to eliminate the false stereotypes and prejudices often used to identify this collective. Recognition of cultural pluralism, not only as legitimate but also as necessary for the enrichment of peoples, is the central thesis of this study, which suggests some cooperation policies for a future intercultural education.
