Diosas y animales que amamantan: la transmisión de la vida en la iconografía ibérica

Abstract

[ES] Se estudian las representaciones de diosas nutricias en el mundo ibérico, con especial atención a sus contextos. Bajo la representación de la diosa amamantando se esconden diferentes sentidos. Uno de ellos es el funerario, probablemente una iniciación y acogida del difunto en el más allá (necrópolis de La Albufereta, Alicante, y El Cabecico del Tesoro, Murcia). El grupo de la terracota de Alcoy (Alicante), hallado en una habitación sagrada del poblado ibérico, representa un culto colectivo que reúne a mujeres y niños de diferentes edades. Se analizan también los diferentes motivos del animal que amamanta a niños (leyenda helenística del rey tartesio Habis, dos moldes con la loba capitolina) y la hembra que nutre a su cría.

[EN] The different meanings of the nurrishing figures in the Iberian culture, both women and female animals, are the main subject of this paper. In funerary contexts the figure of a nursing deity could be interpreted as an initiation in the afterworld, where the dead would be received as a new-born (nécropole of La Albufereta, Alicante, and El Cabecico del Tesoro, Murcia). A terracotta group from Alcoy (Alicante), found in a sacred room of the iberian oppidum, represents a colective cult which congregates both women and children of different ages. Different motifs of animals nursing childrens are also analysed, in special the hellenistic legend of Habis, the mythical king ofTartessos, and two moulds with the Capitoline she-wolf found in Iberia.
