dc.description.abstract[EN]The present study, part of the “CORPESO” project and approved by the corresponding ethics committee, analyzes the evolution of linguistic competence in the transition between the 3rd year of E.S.O. (Compulsory Secondary Education) and the 1st year of Bachillerato through a corpus of seventy-two textual productions from a public school in Salamanca. Configured as fieldwork and action research using artwork in the classroom, the study is conducted from a mixed-methods approach with both quantitative and qualitative strands. This approach evaluates the indices of linguistic (CL), syntactic (CS), and lexical (CLE) complexity, as well as the normative deviations made by the students in response to the same visual stimulus, relying on automated software in Python and Visual Studio Code for data processing and error counting. To stimulate writing, 18th and 19th-century paintings rich in socio-historical meaning by renowned artists such as Fragonard, Goya, or Sorolla were used, incorporating a post-production questionnaire to assess students' critical thinking. This work is structured under the hypothesis that a higher academic level and art favor greater structural complexity. The theoretical framework conceives that linguistic maturity is linked to the ability to construct complex sentences (Hunt, 1965) and is calculated using traditional metrics such as the Subordination Index (IC). Finally, preliminary results and data analysis demonstrate an increase in CS and a higher lexical density in Bachillerato texts compared to Secondary Education, validating our hypotheses and achieving the main objectives of the research.en_EN
