La villa, por dentro. Testimonios galaicos de los siglos X y XI

Abstract

[ES] Intensamente iluminadas por la información contenida en los documentos del tumbo del monasterio de Celanova, las villae de Rabal y Bobadela se escogen como testigos de la organización interior del espacio que, a la altura del tiempo que se estudia y seguramente desde mucho antes, constituye la célula básica de la ocupación humana del territorio. El análisis revela una estructura bien asentada que, sobre la base de la distinción entre núcleos habitados, terrazgos y espacios incultos, se proyecta largamente hacia el futuro y se caracteriza por una flexibilidad que permite la adaptación a condiciones sociales cambiantes.

[EN] Thanks to the light thrown on them by the documents contained in the cartulary of the monastery of Celanova, the villae of Rabal and Bobadela provide valuable evidence concerning the internal organization of what in the 10th and 11th centuries was, and in all probability had long been, the basic unit of population. Analysis reveals a firmly established but flexible structure based on the distinction among dwelling sites, cultivated land and uncultivated areas that allowed adaptation to changing social conditions and to perdure far into the future.
