Propuesta de proyecto de investigación sobre el papel del lóbulo temporal anterior izquierdo en el establecimiento de relaciones semánticas lejanas mediante Remote Associates Test

Abstract

[ES] El procesamiento semántico de relaciones lejanas entre palabras requiere de la intervención de un sistema de control ubicado en el Lóbulo Anterior Temporal izquierdo (ATL). Se ha comprobado que la ejecución en diversas tareas de cognición semántica se ve alterada al estimular con Estimulación transcraneal con Corriente Directa (tDCS) esta área cerebral. La novedad del presente Trabajo Fin de Grado es proponer un proyecto de investigación que utiliza tDCS en el Remote Associates Test, una tarea basada en el establecimiento de relaciones semánticas lejanas entre una tríada de palabras y una palabra objetivo. Los resultados esperados son que, al alterar el funcionamiento del ATL, el sistema de control semántico deje de funcionar adecuadamente y por tanto no se puedan establecer relaciones semánticas remotas. Además, el efecto debería ser gradual, lo que indicaría que el ATL es más necesario cuanto más remota sea la relación entre las palabras. [EN] The semantic processing of distant relationships between words requires the intervention of a control system located in the left Anterior Temporal Lobe (ATL). It has been shown that the execution in different semantic cognition tasks can be altered when this area is stimulated with transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS).Thus, the novelty of this Final Year Dissertation is to outline a proposed research project which uses tDCS in the Remote Associates Test, a task based on establishing distant semantic relationships between a triad of words and a target word. The expected results are that by altering the functioning of the ATL, the semantic control system stops working properly and, therefore, remote semantic relationships cannot be established. Furthermore, the effect should be gradual, meaning that the ATL is more necessary the distant the relationship between the words.
