[EN] The objective of this review was to investigate whether physical activity (PA) and eating habits can decrease or delay the diagnosis of Alzheimer´s diseaseAD, and from there, identify the types of PA and the characteristics of the diet that have a significant association with the AD. For this, 21 scientific articles found through different databases such as Academic Serch, MedLine, PsycInfo and Scopus were selected. It was found that the constant practice of moderate-vigorous PA (MVPA) and the high adherence to a healthy diet during the average age of life were associated with improvements in cognitive performance and higher brain volumes in areas related to AD. In several studies it was found that the protective effects seemed to be important only in cognitively normal individuals. In contrast, the low frequency of physical activity and the high adherence to an unhealthy diet were associated with greater cognitive deterioration. Therefore, it was concluded that the constant practice of MVPA and the high adherence to patterns of healthy diets are potentially beneficial factors for brain areas related to AD and contribute to a better cognitive performance, independently of the genetic risks of the person suffering from AD. | es_ES |
