Cribado universal cómo método para prevenir dificultades en el aprendizaje de la aritmética en el contexto del modelo RTI

[ES] Los modelos preventivos cada vez van tomando más relevancia, debido a que, como así lo indican las investigaciones, la detección temprana ayuda a mejorar el pronóstico de aquellos niños que puedan padecer dificultades. Además, en concreto las habilidades aritméticas han recibido menos atención. Por todo ello, proponemos un cribado para la identificación temprana de alumnos que puedan presentar dificultades en la aritmética, incorporándolo dentro de la primera fase del modelo de respuesta a la intervención (RTI). Este screening consiste en la realización de tres tareas basadas en los factores de riesgo principales de padecer dificultades en la aritmética, que como indica la investigación, son orden y comparación de magnitudes. Además, es necesario que sea fácilmente aplicable en la escuela, por lo que son tareas de lápiz y papel de rápida aplicación (1 minuto por prueba), que se administraron a alumnos de primero y segundo de primaria. Para comprobar que serviría para detectar alumnos en riesgo de desarrollar dificultades aritméticas, se comprobó su asociación con el desempeño en la aritmética medido con el BADYG y la tarea de sumas y restas, evaluando también las diferencias entre los dos cursos. Los resultados obtenidos son consistentes con los que muestran otros estudios, encontrando que este cribado si que predice el rendimiento aritmético.

[EN] Preventive models are becoming more relevant, because, as indicated by research, early detection helps improve the prognosis of those children who may suffer from difficulties. In addition, arithmetic skills have received less attention. For all these reasons, we suggest a screening for the early identification of students who may present difficulties in arithmetic, incorporating it into the first phase of the responsiveness-to-intervention (RTI). This screening consists of performing three tasks based on the main risk factors of present difficulties in arithmetic, which, as the research indicates, are order and magnitude comparison. Furthermore, it needs to be easily applicable in school, so they are quick application pencil and paper tasks (1 minute per test), which are administered to first and second grade students. To verify that it would serve to detect students at risk of developing arithmetic difficulties, its association with performance in arithmetic measured with the BADYG and the sums and subtraction task was verified, also evaluating the differences between the two courses. The results obtained are consistent with those shown by other studies, finding that this screening does predict arithmetic performance.
