Since the mid-20th century, increased attention has been paid to the phenomenon of semantic borrowing. In 1994, Dolores Corbella alluded to the possibility that, in the future, new semantic Gallicisms would be indicated. In this sense, this work aims to propose the French etymology of one of the meanings of "atender" and "divertimiento", two words of the Spanish lexicon of the twelfth century and the seventeenth century, respectively. For this purpose, it has been essential to carry out a historical lexicographical and documentary follow-up through the use of digital tools, both from the Spanish and French academic spheres. Likewise, in order to develop new evidence to support the etymological hypothesis, a follow-up has been made of the usual textual path that two Gallicisms currently recognized as such in the academic dictionary traveled in their entry into Spanish. With this, this research tries to complement one of the shortcomings of the study of the history of the Spanish lexicon: the historical semantic Gallicisms.
