[EN] The aim of this paper is to study international child abduction, a phenomenon of shameful topicality which has become increasingly important at the same time as globalisation is becoming more and more evident in our days. The change in social relations, the opening of borders and the ever closer relations between countries has led to the emergence of problems such as the treaty and, in turn, to an increase in attempts at legal cooperation between States to resolve them, such as the ratification of various conventions which attempt to regulate this type of situation. Thus, this text will begin by defining the problem of international child abduction, as well as the immediate return of the child to his or her country of origin as the main solution offered. On the other hand, the mechanisms of opposition to the return of the abducted child will be analysed, more specifically the one that deals with the opinion of the child and his or her right to be heard, with special emphasis on cases in which there is gender violence, based on what is described in Organic Law 8/2021, on the protection of children and adolescents against violence. Finally, reference will be made to mediation as a method of resolving conflicts of this nature, as set out in Regulation 2019/1111 and its suitability depending on the specific case.
