| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | [EN] The teaching of fractions in primary education is a determining factor in the development of students' logical thinking, as well as in their academic, personal and professional progress. However, despite its importance, its understanding is often complicated, mainly due to the abstract and decontextualized methods that are usually used. It is essential, therefore, to investigate new approaches and theories that facilitate students' understanding of fractions in a simpler, more meaningful and visual way, connecting such learning with their environment, their daily experiences and, above all, with their previous knowledge. In this sense, the Integrated Theory of Numerical Development, proposed by Siegler, Thompson and Schneider in 2011, offers a perfect alternative for this purpose, since it argues that such development should be based on the characteristics common to all types of real numbers and, specifically, on the representation of their magnitudes, which can be located, in turn, in numerical lines. The ability of these lines to represent any type of real number makes them an extremely versatile resource for teaching fractions. Therefore, after offering an extensive theoretical review on fractions, their understanding and teaching, a learning situation has been carried out, where the development of the magnitude of fractions is promoted through the use of the number line and, specifically, through the development of the video game and the proposal “Fracciónate”. | en-EN |
