tecnológicas, la reforma de las estructuras organizativas y la evolución de las tácticas de
combate, asegurando la supervivencia del Imperio en un contexto de profunda
transformación del mundo antiguo. Se analiza la reconquista justinianea y las
devastadoras guerras romano-sasánidas, que culminaron con la creación del sistema
temático, una respuesta vital ante el colapso del sistema militar previo y el advenimiento
de nuevas potencias. [EN] This thesis examines how military conflicts in the 6th and 7th centuries were the
primary driving force behind military transformation in the Eastern Roman Empire.
During this period, the need for adaptation in the face of constant external threats
spurred technological innovations, the reform of organizational structures, and the
evolution of combat tactics, ensuring the Empire's survival amidst a profound
transformation of the ancient world. It analyzes the Justinianic reconquest and the
devastating Roman-Sasanian wars, which culminated in the creation of the thematic
system, a vital response to the collapse of the previous military structure and the advent
of new powers.
